Electrical Audits
AIS Electrical Engineers provide plant auditing services. We can estimate the value of an electrical system if a client requires to insure equipment or might be planning on reinstating a system, upgrading a system or completely looking into something new.
Estimation
Budgeting
We assist clients with preliminary budgets for future upgrades on Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Systems.
Typical Drawings
We provide typical drawings for electrical, control and instrumentation systems that can be used for contractors to quote on. These would form part of the design package
Bill of Quantities
We provide detailed bill of materials on electrical equipment. This can be used to find the three quotes clients need and to ensure all has been accounted for, while unnecessary equipment is excluded.
Insurance Claims
Vandalism and/or Theft
We have encountered countless vandalised plants throughout South Africa. We assist clients with budgets to repair vandalised and/or stolen equipment. As a registered consulting engineering firm, we can provide estimates to our clients.
Loadshedding
Loadshedding causes anomolies on the power system that could damage equipment. We assist our clients with auditing damage claims. We ensure that the correct valuation on power systems are done for our clients to be remunerated accordingly per damage claim.
Acts of God
Lighning surges causes equipment to fail prematurely, we provide assessments on Acts of God.
Power Quality Auditing
Our team provides power quality analysis services. This determines the overall safety and efficiency of a building or facility’s power supply. This process determines power quality by analyzing both power flow and related factors such as grounding, harmonics, flicker, maximum demand, unbalanced circuits, motor inrush and phase sequences.
Industry Standard Reporting
EN 50160 Compliance Report
We provide our clients with EN 50160 compliance reports. These reports provide everything about the user connection, whether Eskom is providing quality power and if your equipment is safe.
IEEE 519 Compliance Report
Ever wonder if your neighbor might be causing your equipment to fail. The IEEE 519 compliancer report verifies whether or not the power returned to the point of supply is clean and safe.
Energy Demand Report
We provide reports on energy usage, demand and tariffs. These reports indicate everything necessary for our clients to optimize their existing plant distribution and control systems
On-Site Analysis
Phasors
We can actively track phasors on any voltage system as long as we have access to CTs and VTs. Accessibility will allow us to see PF, DPF, kW, kVA, kVAr, A, V, Flicker and much more
Harmonics
We can detect harmonics up to the 50th harmonic, enabling us to pro-actively ensure that our clients purchase the correct filters and/or rectify issues picked up during our analysis
Inrush
Inrush currents commonly trip circuit breakers or cause unplanned downtime. We can ensure that switchgear is setup correctly to accommodate inrush, while still protecting the circuits
Switchgear and Controlgear Assemblies
AIS Electrical Engineers provide panel building services in-house. Our assemblies comply to IEC60439-1, IEC61439, SANS1973 and SANS10142-1. All our assemblies come with drawing packs, unless issued to us for manufacturing.
Industry Standard Equipment
Switchgear
The selection of switchgear are based on the fault level, voltage and current requirements. Furthermore we size the drives based on coordination class I or II.
Automation
The selection of automation equipment are based on application, integration requirements and client preferences.
Enclosures
The selection of enclosures are based on environmental conditions, equipment requirements, installation constraints and fault level.
Control Panels
High Level Design
We provide high level design for control panels, if not provided to us. This will determine the incomer size, drives, feeders, and metering
Low Level Design
We provide low level design for control panels, if not provided to us. The design will be based off the functional design specification and single line diagram
Manufacturing
We assemble the control panels in-house, if required. This streamlines quality standards and assures that the product reaches the industry with quality our client base trusts.
Motor Control Centres
High Level Design
We provide our clients with estimates on motor control centres and provide high-end designs that enable our clients to comfortably make executive decisions before low-level designs commence.
Low Level Design
We provide our clients with low level designs on motor control centres that complies with local and international standards. Equipment selection takes place during this phase, while general arrangement optimization is done.
Manufacturing
We provide Motor Control Centre assembly. Our team consists only of technicians skilled in delivering quality work. Switchgear and drive equipment are set up and tested to projected load expectations. PLC and HMI programs are also installed and tested, if required.
Generator Optimization
AIS Electrical Engineers are equipped to optimize backup generator loading and sizing through our high-end analyzers or through first principal calculations. Contact us to size and/or optimize your backup generator today.
Phasor Diagrams
Our analyzers can easily assist us to pinpoint maximum demand, power factor and other critical information of the existing plant
Total Demand Distortion
Distortion presented into a network causes disturbances such as premature equipment failure, overheating of earth cables and transient disturbances across the reactor of the generator
Inrush Current and Impact KVA
Starting up a system requires a transient surge of energy to overcome the load inertia or charging currents. Equipment will then stabilize to nominal current.
Load List
We estimate the generator load by using a sheet developed over a period of 6 years. This sheet indicates maximum demand requirements.
OEM Datasheet
We make use of original equipment manufacturer datasheets to compare our load list values to OEM equipment ratings.
Generator Estimation
We do a selection on an OEM generator size closest to the minimum KVA rating calculated.
